The end is here.! Game of Thrones is ending and the final season will not be overstaying its’ welcome.
Creators/showrunners/writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed that as they were breaking the story for the show’s final two seasons, they were breaking tradition from the normal 10 episodes per season. They had only 13 episodes left for both seasons.
Benioff and Weiss are now sitting down to finalize the final season of Game of Thrones, and they’re confirming it will be a very abbreviated season. Speaking at a SXSW panel over the weekend, they confirmed that Game of Thrones Season 8 will consist of only six episodes in total. And Season 7 will have just 7 episodes.
This does not exactly mean that we will have the normal 50-53 minutes per episodes neither does it confirm the rumors that there will be a spin-off movie from the series. The longest airing time for any episode was season 6 finale which aired for 69 minutes.
Anyway, we still have season 7 to look forward to before we say goodbye to Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms. There are 17 things we learned about Game of Thrones at SXSW which gives us a lot to look forward to.
Season 7 airs on July 16
